Before
To be married in Australia couples must:
understand what marriage means and freely consent to marrying
lodge the Notice of Intended Marriage form with me, an authorised marriage celebrant at least one month prior to the intended date of marriage
not be legally married in Australia or another country
not be married to someone else
provide your partner and your original birth certificate or passport
provide two witnesses over the age of 18 years to witness their marriage ceremony
not be marrying a parent, grandparent, child, grandchild or sibling
be at least eighteen years old, unless a court has approved a marriage where one party is aged between sixteen and eighteen years old

When your marriage ceremony is conducted;
couples must understand what marriage means and freely agree to marry
you be married by an authorised marriage celebrant (me)
use specific words during the ceremony
two witnesses over the age of 18 years must witness the marriage ceremony

Things to know;
as your celebrant I will lodge your marriage documentation with Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM) in the state or territory where your marriage was conducted
if required, you will order a marriage certificate from BDM (ask me how I can help with this)
you can apply to BDM to change your name
